About Us

We want each young person to know they are deeply loved by God, and to deeply love God. Our desire is for young people to have an active and growing faith. Following are 7 principles that guide our choices when planning events, studies, and activities.

REAL FAITH:
Real faith is believing God is always the same. His love and promises never change. Young people constantly have change in their life; relationships can change, family structure can change, material wealth can change, personal health can change. You can depend on God! He will not change.

SPIRITUAL PRACTICES:
We believe the following practices are essential to a growing and loving relationship with Christ:

  • Prayer
  • Worship
  • Serving Others Locally and Globally
  • Bible Study

MORAL BOUNDARIES:
We feel it is important to help young begin to establish moral boundaries at a young age. Setting these boundaries will provide a guide for healthy relationships in school. In addition, it will align young adults towards a rich and special relationship with the person God has planned for them.

HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS:
What does a healthy friendship look like? Do your friends help you become the best you? We strive to have discussion/activities that give young people the tools they need to choose good friends and to be a good friend.

WISE CHOICES/GOOD COUNCIL:
Young people have more information at their finger tips than any generation before. However, with the overload of technology, lack of time, and lack of council, young people many times do not make the wise choice. We provide biblical resources and skills to help young people make good choices. We strive to build wise community around youth, so they can seek council, freely discuss concerns, and ask questions.

OBEDIENCE:
We believe God is our authority. God loves obedience. Through being obedient a person creates a healthier relationship with God and unlocks more of what God has for their life.

OTHERS FIRST:
We strive to love God and love others. It is our desire to encourage and provide opportunities for each person to invest in someone younger. Through this process we hope to build a relationally rich youth group culture.

Outpost Kids is committed to helping children view and value themselves just how Jesus does: wonderfully made! (Psalm 139:14)  Opportunities are provided Sunday mornings and throughout the week for children, Birth-5th grade, to engage with peers, other families, and caring Outpost volunteers in a safe and fun environment.

Outpost Kids Worship takes place in the Children’s Area each Sunday morning at JCCHS beginning at 9:51am.  We sing, dance, watch a short video and play games together in Large Group.  The children then participate in Small Groups of peers their own age where they learn how to apply a specific Bible lesson or story into their own daily lives.

Outpost Kids Nursery is also provided in the Children’s Area for all young children, Infants-3 years old.  It is a joy to be able to love on the littlest of our members and guests. If your baby stays with you during worship and you need to change them, a changing station is available in the nursery area for parents.

As part of the collaboration between Jefferson First UMC and Ebenezer UMC, there will also be several Outpost Kids opportunities each month to be in community with other children and their families.  Most of the weeknight activities for kids PreK-5th grade occur on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. Opportunities include:

  • Kids Serve: Being in service to others is an integral part of growing our faith.  Boys & girls will participate in a service project to help those in our community.
  • Kids L.A.B: (Kids Learning & Believing) Boys and girls will participate in science based lessons based around a specific scripture.
  • Kids Craft: Boys & girls will gather to fellowship together and create a variety of fun crafts related to a character trait or sometimes to an upcoming holiday.
  • Lego Club: Boys and girls will have the opportunity to be creative and craft a Lego build based off of a classic bible story.

Other Tips and Helpful Information:

Be assured that your child’s safety is our first concern. All staff and children’s volunteers are background checked and take part in a Safe Sanctuaries training before serving with the children.  In addition, Outpost Kids uses a secure Check-In and Check-Out procedure.

If visiting… WELCOME!  We look forward to meeting you and your children!  Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time to complete your first Check-In and share any pertinent information with our Children’s Director and volunteer team members.  We strive to provide an environment that meets the needs of all children.  Therefore, if your child has a special need, please feel free to reach out to us in advance so that we can be best prepared to help your child enjoy their worship experience.
